Setting up the client view
The client view gives external clients a clean, read-only window into a board — no logins, no learning curve. Hide internal columns, collect feedback, and capture approvals inline.

What clients see
When you share a board with the client view, they see your tasks, columns, progress bars, and any custom fields you choose to expose. They don't see internal comments, automations, time logs, or anything you've marked as internal-only.
Turn it on for a board
- 1
Open the board and click the 'Share' button in the top right.
- 2
Toggle 'Enable client view'.
- 3
Copy the public link — it looks like protasks.app/client/<your-board-slug>.
- 4
Send the link to your client. That's it.
The link is unique per board. Generate a new one any time you want to revoke access.
Hide internal columns
Some columns are for your team only (e.g. 'Backlog', 'Internal QA'). Hide them from the client view so clients only see what matters to them.
- 1
In the Share dialog, find 'Hidden columns'.
- 2
Check the columns you want to hide from clients.
- 3
Save. The client view updates immediately.
Hide internal custom fields
When defining custom fields (in Board settings), you can mark any field as 'Internal'. Internal fields never appear in the client view — useful for hours, internal status, or cost fields.
Collect approvals and feedback
Each task in the client view has 'Approve' and 'Request changes' buttons. When a client clicks either, the feedback flows into your Client Feedback Inbox so nothing gets lost in email.
You'll see a notification in the app when a client leaves feedback or approves work — and your team can be notified in Slack automatically with an automation.
Best practices
Use clear column names — 'To do', 'In progress', 'In review', 'Done' read well to clients.
Keep priority and label colors consistent across boards so clients learn your shorthand.
Pin the client link in your kickoff email. Most agencies report 60–80% fewer 'what's the status?' messages.
